Boat trip and snorkeling - 6h00

Service Description

The boat trip is done by a small boat with three rowers (guide included) who will show you islands of the peninsula. Details of the boat trip : You leave for the boat trip directly from the beach at the lodge, around 10am, with a lunch packet. First stop Mphanga. Mphanga is a rocky-island with a lighthouse, where you can climb the rocks to have a good view of the mountains and to jump in the water. The island is where fishermen rest during their fishing day and where they meet up to spend the day together. You can observe there how the fishermen work. Then you continue to Kathali, where you can leave the boat to cross the little rocky island. This is one of the best spots of the boat trip to see some beautiful fish! It has become a nursery for Chambo fish, it's therefore forbidden to fish near the shore, but the access to the island remains open. The last stop of the trip is the beautiful island of Chirwa, the biggest island of the trip. You can freely explore the island, which is full of trees, plants and insects. You may be lucky enough to cross the road of the only vervet monkey of the island. There are also rare birds such as the emblematic African fish eagle. You can easily go around Chirwa with fins, mask and snorkel, unlike around the two other rocky-islands. For lunch, added to your lunch packet, the fishermen barbecue freshly caught fish and you eat on the island. Finally you head back to the lodge and enjoy your last jump from the boat to swim the last meters towards the beach. Advice : Be careful in the sun, do not hesitate to apply sunscreen before and during the boat trip. Once you get back into the boat after swimming, put your t-shirt back on and protect your legs. You can quickly get sunburned in the water. Also bring a waterproof bag to keep your valuables dry, water can sometimes get into the boat. During the whole trip, the guide explains what you can observe under and above the water. You can ask questions at any time.
